Mount Sumbing

 

     Mount Sumbing is a volcano which located in Central Java, Indonesia. It is about 3.371 meters above sea level. Mount Sumbing is the third highest mountain in Java after Mount Semeru and Mount Slamet. This mountain is administratively located in three districts, namely Magelang, Temanggung , and Wonosobo Regency. Mount Sumbing and Mount Sindoro form a twin mountain landscape, such as Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu when viewed from Temanggung direction. The gap between this mountain and Mount Sindoro is traversed by a provincial road connecting Temanggung and Wonosobo Regency. This street is commonly dubbed as 'Kledung Pass' .

     The most popular climbing route is Garung Post. Garung is a village on the northern foot of Mount Sumbing, in the Kledung Pass area.
Close to Garung Village there is also a basecamp for climbing to Mount Sindoro.
The location of Mount Sumbing and Mount Sindoro facing each other. Many people called between Mount Sumbing and Mount Sindoro is a twin mountain like Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu. The height is not much different, and also the natural conditions of the mountain are also almost the same but for the climbers of Mount Sumbing has a heavier track than Mount Sindoro.
